GBHEM announces deadlines for Central Conference and Young Clergy grants

GBHEMLOGONashville, Tenn – The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) announced today the deadlines for applications for two grant programs.

The deadline to apply for Central Conference Theological Education grants is Thursday, January 30, 2014. Central Conference Theological Education grants will be awarded for projects aimed at improving United Methodist theological education in the central conferences in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. A commission elected by the Council of Bishops oversees distribution of the $5 million fund created by General Conference 2012. The deadline to apply for Young Clergy Initiative grants is Wednesday, February 5, 2014 by 11:59 p.m. CST. Young Clergy Initiative grants will be awarded from a $7 million fund created by General Conference 2012 to applicants who develop innovative projects that could attract young people to ordained ministry in The United Methodist Church. Applications not completed or submitted by the deadline will remain open for completion, submission, and consideration for the second round of grants. Deadline for the second round is July 2.
